Amritsar is the capital of the state of Punjab in Northwest India. It is popular among Sikhs and tourists for the spectacular Harmandir Sahib, the Sikh most important shrine known as the "Golden Temple".
As spectacular, but far less known, is the Guru-Ka-Langar. A huge kitchen service sited within the temple area. A facility structured to cook and offer tens of thousands of free, hot meals daily.
Following the Sikh’s principles of equality, sharing, community everyone, regardless of religion, caste, colour, age, gender, nationality or social status is welcomed to sit and dine in one of the Langar large halls.
