From The Soul to the Heart: New Paintings by Jason Craighead
at Thomas Deans Fine Art, September 13 - October 12, 2013
"Compelling" is the word that best describes From the Soul to the Heart, the solo exhibition of new paintings by North Carolina artist Jason Craighead, opening September 13 at Thomas Deans Fine Art on Atlanta's Miami Circle. In his newest work, Craighead explores the concept of meraki, the untranslatable Greek word that means to imbue one's activities with ardor, love, and creativity. Meraki is an apt word to describe Craighead's powerfully expressive work, which combines elements of drawing, painting, collage, graffiti, and process art. The artist describes his work as “intuitive and emotionally driven mark making.”
