Gesilayefa Azorbo
Canada
Gesilayefa Azorbo is a Toronto-based writer, photographer and filmmaker. She has a deep interest in music, film, literature, and pop culture. She was born in Nigeria, grew up in Kenya, currently lives in Canada, and considers herself a Third Culture Kid. Her work explores themes related to music, creativity, identity and belief. She recently completed an MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University. In June 2015 she premiered her first documentary, Indie Womyn, profiling artist Alysha Brilla as she recorded her Juno-nominated album, Womyn. When not listening to music, she is most likely humming it under her breath.
