About the Ebook
This handbook introduces the ideas and disciplined skills involved in successful Process Leadership (how to lead a problem solving process) of teams. Process Leadership skills are initially developed through applying the techniques in teams working to solve a range of abstract problems, before moving into the context of solving real problems with clients or internal customers.
Process Leadership is the ability that great leaders have in both managing the day-to-day tactics of getting things done, whilst putting those tactics and tasks within a larger, strategic process that ensures that the right stuff gets done in the right way, at the right time, through following an overarching, logical approach.
Process Leadership is fundamentally about developing 2 abilities: the first ability, to ask great questions at the right time, in the right order; and secondly, the ability to move into a “helicopter” perspective at the drop of a hat, consciously putting activities and priorities within a larger context.
This is not easy.
This handbook provides a background resource in terms of ideas and principles for readers and participants interested in developing Process Leadership for themselves and within teams.
Process Leadership is the product of years of observation, experiment and practice involving individuals working in teams to deliver solutions under pressure. It is driven by understanding that the key element in the creative process of working in teams, is the timely management and sequencing of behaviours. In other words, if you know what can go wrong, and prepare for it, then you are less likely to be ambushed by the way that individuals within groups interact.
