A child and her parents are camping out as they travel the outback Australian bush on their bicycles. One morning the girl finds an abandoned emu egg just as it is hatching.
She names the newborn chick "Rascal". As he grows ,Rascal lives up to his name as he gets up to all sorts of mischief . He eventually becomes a very responsible grown up emu.
