Beakie Gets A Birdsitter covers my fear when I was a kid of my mom leaving me with a new babysitter. When I was Beakie's age, I had no idea where my mom was going, and when she was coming back. Like Beakie, I also loved to bake. On my fourth birthday, "Mommy" gave me a Suzy Homemaker oven.

In my adult life, I've taught cooking classes at The Boy's and Girl's Club. I was a National Beef Cook-Off category winner and a Pillsbury Bake-Off finalist. As much as I love sweets, I also know the importance of good nutrition. So, in Beakie Gets A Birdsitter, I tried to pack a little nutrition into my blueberry muffin recipe in the back of the book.

Debbie Eynon Finley is a multimedia journalist and artist. She earned a BA in psychology from Simmons College, and an MA in photojournalism from The University of Texas in Austin. In addition, she has taken art, photography and film courses at University of the Arts, Pratt Institute, School of Visual Arts, and International Center for Photography.
