THE MASKS OF THE GODDESS was a collection of 35 "Temple Masks" created by artist Lauren Raine inspired by multi-cultural mythologies of Goddesses from around the world. Created in 1999 for the Spiral Dance in San Francisco, for almost 10 years the collection traveled throughout the U.S., used by choreographers, storytellers, mythologists and ritualists to celebrate the Divine Feminine, and to discover the Goddess Within. This beautiful book includes photographs of the masks and performances, stories, interviews, resources for women, and documentation of this historic community arts project.

Since 1997 the MASKS OF THE GODDESS, a collection of 35 multicultural masks, have travelled throughout the U.S. They were created as contemporary "Temple Masks" to celebrate the many faces of the divine feminine. As the masks have been used by different communities, dancers and storytellers over the years they have filled with energy and story. No artist could ask for more. I'm grateful to share the story in this book.
