Dr. Haines was born and reared in Western Maryland. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Following a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago, he entered private practice in Pensacola, Florida. After 31 years, Dr. Haines retired from office practice in 2008. Since then, he has worked part-time as a gastroenterology hospitalist, initially in Albuquerque, New Mexico, now in Pensacola, Florida.
