It was inevitable that at some point I would bring my love of music and my passion for photography together, at least metaphorically. This portfolio attempts to expand the definition of the étude, a musical composition often played as a practice exercise, but also performed in concert. Its chief function is to allow the musician to work on a single point of technical expertise. Here, the études are five groupings of photos sharing, more or less, a common subject or theme, allowing me to group diverse images. The body of work included here spans my career, starting with my college years, up to the present day. I am most pleased that my total output as a photographer has held up so well and that I could mix work shot on film in my early days as a student, with work which I have recently created digitally.
