About the Ebook
Ce n'est pas une banane (It's not a banana) is 92 pages of photography taken in the South of France during a two week stay in a small town called Cornelihan, just outside of Beziers.
The title of the book originates from the beginning of the journey. In the week before driving from the North West of England, to the South of France, the author replaced the engine in the mini-bus due to be taking ten people, not once, but twice!
The Ford Transit mini-bus that was bought for the trip had an engine known as a 'Banana Engine' because of it's shape. The author and a couple of family members replaced the engine for the first time, only to be told by engineers that the new one was no better than the old one! So out that one came, and the day before the 35 hour drive, yet another engine was found and replaced in the bus. The only problem being, you've guessed it! It wasn't a Banana Engine! This became an "In Joke" between the Mini-Bus Engine Crew as we were now known, and after swapping over a few parts and working until 6am on the day of departure, the bus was now ready to go.
The book contains images from Architecture to Social Documentary and everything in-between. Whilst looking through this book you must keep the title in mind at all times. Viewing the images as a collection the viewer can see the journey that the author has documented, and by thinking 'It's not a banana' when you look at each individual image, the scene turns from being an ambiguous social documentary shot into something quite humorous.
There is something for everyone in this photographic book including photographs of beautiful butterflies, gentlemen playing boules and even epic thunder storms!
A perfect gift for anyone who enjoys photography.
