Written from first hand memories jogged by the Authors Flying Log, Smelling of Roses is a collection of true life stories about life in active service flying and servicing Mk V Sunderland Flying Boats as a Flight Engineer and Airgunner with the RAF in the Far East during the Korean War and beyond.
The book includes a memorable visit to Hiroshima seven years after the first Atomic Bomb was dropped, encounters with indigenous animals, (including cheeky smoking apes and insomnia inducing insects) and the lucky escapes that inspired the title of the book.
