About

THOMAS MICHAEL ALLEMAN is a freelance magazine photographer living and working in Los Angeles. Since leaving a 15-year newspaper career in 1999, Tom’s portraits of politicians, scientists, CEOs, writers and artists have been published regularly in Time, People, Business Week, Barron’s, Smithsonian, and National Geographic Traveler, among many others.

"Social Studies", a body of black-and-white street photographs shot mostly in Detroit, San Francisco and LA, was exhibited widely in Southern California between 1998 and 2001. "Sunshine and Noir" made it’s solo debut at the Afterimage Gallery in Dallas in 2006, and had atwo-month run at the Robin Rice Gallery in New York in 2008; the Blue Sky Gallery, in Portland, will show selections from Sunshine & Noir in October 2009. Prints from the series reside in the permanent collection of the Huntington Library and Museum in San Marino, CA, as well as the Kresge Art Museum in East Lansing, MI.
